hey guys welcome back to the Beyond hope
0:12
project podcast my name is Jason Tharp
0:14
the champion of Hope and I am going to
0:17
talk to you today about the worst piece
0:19
of advice that is out there on the
0:21
internet um and it's everywhere and this
0:24
might be unpopular and it may be getting
0:27
some comments from other people that
0:28
think that I'm full of but I am
0:30
going to tell you that I'm not I'm just
0:32
going to I'm going to stand on that soap
0:35
box for a second and say I'm not and
0:36
it's this idea that you gotta hustle
0:39
your face off I think hustle your face
0:41
off has to be the most horrible stupid
0:45
advice that I have heard um from a
0:48
bazillion online gurus and first off the
0:52
caveat is this do you have to work hard
0:55
absolutely but the thing is is that what
0:57
we aren't seeing from these people that
0:58
are hustling their face off is that also
1:00
have a team of people that are out there
1:02
helping them hustle their face off um I
1:05
know this because I've been around these
1:06
people and they have assistant after
1:08
assistant and a team of people cutting
1:10
their videos and a team of people
1:11
posting their videos and all those
1:12
things like that and while this advice
1:15
worked well for them it doesn't work
1:16
well for everybody and I think there's a
1:18
little bit of a a problem that happens
1:21
when we are telling everybody else out
1:23
there that what you got to do is you got
1:24
to post a 100 times a day and you got to
1:25
do this you gotta be building your brand
1:26
you gotta be
1:27
doing all this stuff like that um I just
1:30
don't I don't think it's realistic and I
1:32
think what it does lead to though is
1:34
this this plague of multitasking where
1:37
what you end up doing is you end up
1:38
throwing so much stuff against the wall
1:40
that you're trying to see what sticks
1:42
and when you're doing that it's like
1:43
trying to spin plates and every time
1:45
we're spinning plates we're getting one
1:49
thing kind of there but then we have to
1:51
stop that and jump over to this one and
1:54
what ends up happening is all along the
1:55
way is you end up losing while you're
1:57
doing it the first place you learn end
1:58
up losing your path and this is where I
2:01
feel like a lot of people feel like
2:02
failures it's because you're feeling
2:03
burnout and then what's odd is a lot of
2:05
those people that are also saying how
2:07
your face off then are kind of swooping
2:08
by and telling you like oh well you got
2:09
to give yourself patience you gotta give
2:10
yourself time this mixed message is just
2:13
causes tons of confusion because the
2:16
truth is is that what you need to do is
2:18
you just need to pick your lane and
2:20
focus on that thing now why do I bring
2:23
this up I bring this up because this is
2:25
something I've come to realize about
2:27
myself lately is that thought that the
2:31
key was to keep seeking stuff out to
2:33
keep going out there and looking for all
2:34
the answers because somewhere along the
2:35
line somebody's going to magically tell
2:37
me this is what I needed to do to
2:38
connect the dots and where that comes
2:41
from I'm positive is just a low
2:44
self-esteem low self-worth in myself
2:46
thinking that somehow I can't figure out
2:48
my own stuff and I need to somehow look
2:52
to somebody else for the answers and
2:54
then what that actually takes from us is
2:56
the one thing that we need more than
2:57
anything is the resources to invest in
2:59
the thing that we actually want to go
3:01
and try to achieve and so we have to
3:03
stop that spinning because what we're
3:06
doing is we're causing so much confusion
3:08
in ourselves because we can't see what
3:11
direction we're going because we're
3:13
trying to go 50 directions and when
3:15
you're going 50 different directions
3:17
because you got to make sure that you
3:18
post here you got to post that and you
3:20
got to do this and you got to do that
3:21
and you got to write this and you got to
3:22
create this art and all this stuff
3:24
everybody just ends up creating the same
3:27
stuff which is why everybody's an online
3:29
coach now why everybody's going all
3:31
these different ways why you see
3:34
everybody selling a Scrub Daddy stuff on
3:36
Tik Tok because once one person sees it
3:38
they go oh I must do that and they shift
3:40
over here versus just stick in your lane
3:42
and figure out what it is you're trying
3:43
to do stick to your message and the
3:45
people will find you I think that what
3:47
happens is when we start to chase these
3:49
mystical things um we're seeking what
3:53
they're looking for us we're looking
3:55
outside of us and we allow those things
3:57
to influence what we actually want to
3:59
try to achieve
4:00
instead of like realizing that if I
4:02
focus mostly on what it is I want to do
4:06
and I get really good at doing what it
4:09
is that I do that the why will start
4:11
flowing naturally and you have that
4:13
ability to start seeing things for what
4:16
they are to see that it's okay to say no
4:18
to stuff you know if you need that
4:21
permission let me tell you right now it
4:22
is okay to say no to stuff I have
4:26
written this in my journal a million
4:28
times lately to myself that it's okay to
4:30
say no um and it's been a huge struggle
4:33
like a huge struggle because I think a
4:35
little bit for me if I'm being honest is
4:36
like it's it's being hyper aware of time
4:40
of my life being different now when
4:43
you're going through uh like the cancer
4:46
diagnosis and all that stuff like that
4:47
and you have an idea of your mortality
4:49
you change your perspective of time and
4:52
in a weird sort of way I kind of even
4:54
put more pressure on myself because I
4:57
felt like I had to get it all done right
4:58
now and and what I if I could go back
5:02
and undo and and fix that part of me I
5:05
would tell myself that like stop looking
5:07
outside here uh because the answers are
5:10
already right here in front of you but
5:13
you're looking for validation from other
5:15
people um you don't have to seek that
5:18
validation and this multitasking is just
5:21
going to lead to burnout and it's going
5:22
to lead to you resenting the thing that
5:23
you're actually trying to do and then
5:25
not only that you're going to end up
5:26
being confused and you're going to have
5:28
so many this is this is is where I think
5:30
for somebody that writes a lot of stuff
5:33
uh comes from writer's block it's like
5:35
you're just confused like you just have
5:37
so much crap going on in your head it's
5:38
like a tornado you're trying to figure
5:39
out like what it is that you need to do
5:41
to get to that Clarity and back to your
5:44
path what I would suggest for you is
5:47
that you need to start asking yourself
5:50
better questions like ask yourself what
5:53
it is exactly you're trying to get out
5:55
of this stuff and then simply you just
5:57
be brave enough to like walk away to say
6:00
no to some stuff you know exactly what
6:03
I'm talking about because I'm positive
6:05
that you have the same struggles I do
6:07
when you comes to this stuff like that
6:08
where you think that you know this
6:11
person's magically going to give you the
6:12
answers that you already know but you're
6:15
too afraid to trust and that is the Crux
6:20
of so many of us out there that are
6:22
wanting to have an impact is that we
6:25
think that the impact we want to have
6:27
surely can't be this easy it can't be
6:29
and us doing exactly what it is that we
6:32
want to do because it seems like it
6:35
comes so easy to us because it just
6:37
feels so right and then if you are
6:41
anybody like myself that struggled with
6:43
this idea of worth you talk yourself out
6:46
of those things because you go like it
6:48
shouldn't be that easy and I'm going to
6:51
be blunt with you and tell you that
6:53
you're lying to yourself the same as I
6:55
was lying to myself thinking that
6:57
somehow this answer would magically show
7:00
up um and doesn't best piece of advice I
7:03
got from somebody was just this week
7:05
they told me to um pick one thing focus
7:09
on that one thing is it the first time
7:11
I've heard that no but maybe it was the
7:13
first time I listened to it and maybe
7:16
that you hear that message in this
7:18
podcast today and I want that to be the
7:20
thing that you land on instead of trying
7:23
to do a 100 things focus on that one if
7:26
you want to write that book focus on
7:29
writing that that book yes you might
7:30
have a job but you have free time in
7:32
that free time stop picking up your
7:34
phone and seeing what's the latest
7:35
update on Tik Tok or who's posting what
7:38
or what hashtags are trending because
7:40
you got to do your post and you got to
7:42
hustle your face off because if I'm not
7:43
hustling my face off I'm doing it all
7:45
wrong this is all lies you're being fed
7:48
to into a system that somebody wants to
7:50
just get you to see their point of view
7:51
that can feed you back and sell you
7:53
something else that's going to take away
7:55
your time energy effort and resources to
7:58
go after that thing that you want to do
8:01
I am positive once you clear that stuff
8:03
off your road what you're going to find
8:04
is that this lesson that you're learning
8:07
right now while it might be tough and
8:08
you feel like you're getting nowhere is
8:10
one of the biggest ones you're going to
8:12
be able to do is to pull back and
8:13
realize that you have the power to open
8:15
up your path to the gates that you're
8:18
wanting to flow through just by learning
8:20
how to say no seeing what it is you want
8:23
to do embracing what it is and just
8:26
trusting your why and keep relying on on
8:29
your why and if something is out of
8:31
alignment with that be brave enough to
8:33
say no to it so guys that that's that's
8:36
all I got for this one it is really
8:38
about you in this sort of situation stop
8:41
turning externally to find the answers
8:43
for what you already know internally
8:45
everything that you're wanting to do is
8:47
behind everything that you're afraid to
8:48
face and that includes ourselves so what
8:51
we got to do is get real with us realize
8:52
that if you are not where you want to be
8:55
it's not about hustling your face off
8:56
that's going to get you there it's going
8:58
to lead you to burnout it's going to
8:59
lead you to resenting things and
9:01
ultimately not liking the thing that
9:02
you're doing the beauty of what you're
9:04
doing right now is in the Journey of
9:05
getting there those are the stories
9:07
you're going to tell when you get there
9:08
not when you're at the Mountaintop and
9:09
you're telling everybody look how great
9:11
it is here they're going to talk about
9:12
all those times you overcame those
9:14
things and this is will lead to the
9:17
magic that is you so as we leave up here
9:20
guys uh you're doing a great job I mean
9:22
this this this life thing is freaking
9:23
hard there's all kinds of that
9:25
happens all the times it throws us off
9:26
of rails but you're doing a great job
9:28
being human and I just want you to see
9:31
if you haven't heard it yet today you're
9:34
awesome just keep being awesome keep
9:36
trying and failing but stop hustling
9:39
your face off it's not helping um get
9:42
focused and uh I can't wait to see what
9:44
you do hope the subs all right
9:55
