hey guys welcome back to the Beyond hope
0:11
project my name is Jason Tharp the
0:13
champion of Hope and I have a very short
0:16
one for you today that you can refer
0:17
back to often so whatever it is you
0:20
listen this listen to these on uh hit
0:23
that favorite button bookmark it set it
0:26
to repeat because I want this to just
0:29
provide a power up and it's meant for
0:31
those days that you're having those
0:33
moments where you feel completely
0:35
invisible and I just want to say before
0:37
we get started that you know how much I
0:38
appreciate you showing up listening to
0:40
this and supporting what we're doing and
0:42
ask a favor if you know two people that
0:44
know two people um share this with
0:46
somebody share this with at least two
0:48
people that's all I'm asking if you've
0:49
picked up anything along the way on this
0:51
listen to this podcast just share with
0:53
two people and with that let's let's
0:56
Jump Right In again like I said I think
0:58
you uh are going to enjoy enjoy this one
1:00
because what I really intend to do with
1:02
this is just to provide you with just a
1:05
little boost it's something that you can
1:06
refer back to if you're having a down
1:08
day or if you're feeling a little bit
1:11
lost
1:12
and to give context I remember when I
1:16
was diagnosed and when the doctor came
1:20
in and they were very blunt with me in a
1:22
very quick within a few minutes of
1:24
knowing me telling me I was going to be
1:25
dead in seven
1:26
months in that Rush of the feelings
1:30
um what it felt like was all of a sudden
1:33
like I was a kid again and everybody
1:35
tell me all the reasons why I wasn't
1:36
going to be able to do all the things I
1:37
wanted to do it was somebody making a
1:40
prediction on my life and for the first
1:43
time in a long time I felt really really
1:47
invisible it was easy when I was a kid
1:49
because I could kind of get sucked into
1:52
uh my sketchbooks I can get lost in
1:54
creating stuff because that was my world
1:57
I was able to control that but this
1:58
world is different and this world I have
2:00
responsibilities and I have other
2:02
obligations that I needed to live up to
2:05
so feeling invisible as an adult was was
2:08
was weird um I felt invisible before but
2:11
not to this level and most of the
2:14
invisibility I felt when I was adult was
2:16
more internalized it was a lot of
2:18
self-inflicted
2:19
invisibility um whereas this one it felt
2:22
like I was invisible to the world like
2:24
nobody can understand what this feels
2:26
like nobody can understand how this is
2:29
taking over everything and it felt
2:31
incredibly lonely and maybe you're going
2:34
through that right now maybe right now
2:36
something is happening in your world
2:37
where you feel that nobody understands
2:41
anything that I'm going through and
2:44
there's no way that people can possi
2:46
relate to me right now and everywhere
2:49
you look it looks like everybody's just
2:50
putting their hand on your head and
2:52
trying to push you down and when all you
2:54
want to do is fight for that breath of
2:55
air to get just a little reprieve from
2:58
this noise because it's loud and it's
3:01
obnoxious and I just want everybody to
3:03
leave me
3:05
alone this part
3:08
sucks and while there's no magic pill
3:10
that's going to help you feel visible
3:13
again what I have found that has worked
3:15
well for me was understanding that I'm
3:18
not as long as I thought I was and that
3:21
by sharing the stuff that I'm going
3:22
through I will find that there are other
3:24
people out there that are just like
3:26
me for you it might be something to
3:29
laugh at
3:31
you know a good comedy show or maybe
3:32
it's a scary movie or maybe it's a walk
3:34
in the woods maybe it's creating
3:37
something maybe it's going out and just
3:39
yelling out to the
3:41
air allow yourself to do those things
3:44
don't do what I did which was bottle it
3:47
all up I would pressure it down I'd push
3:50
it down until this diagnosis came all of
3:55
a sudden I was being choked out it was
3:57
like anxiety just rolled up into my
3:59
throat and it was like a giant that had
4:00
their hand around my throat and it just
4:02
kept squeezing every time that all I
4:04
wanted to do was somebody just to say
4:06
it'll be
4:08
okay wasn't like I needed somebody to
4:10
say here's the magic thing that'll fix
4:12
it all I just wanted somebody to say
4:15
it'll be okay you're not
4:19
alone and maybe share something with me
4:21
in
4:22
that
4:24
and it did finally happen for me um it
4:27
took a few days for it to happen but it
4:29
was amazing once I started to realize
4:31
that like wow I'm not as invisible as I
4:34
feel the anxiety subsided I was able to
4:38
start to look at the world in a
4:39
different way and I think for the first
4:41
time this is where hope really showed up
4:42
for me it was where I started to
4:44
understand maybe my purpose is a little
4:46
different maybe how I can start stepping
4:48
into this is having these vulnerable
4:49
moments with other people to be able to
4:51
share what is and does go through my
4:55
head quite often and not being so afraid
4:58
to feel invisible anymore because what I
5:02
have found is and when I'm feeling
5:04
invisible the more I can kind of share
5:05
that the more I actually feel that I'm
5:08
seen
5:10
and the the crazy part for me was that
5:14
people appreciate that and that was that
5:17
was new that feeling of letting
5:21
something out that I had been afraid to
5:23
show
5:24
everybody but realizing that people
5:26
appreciate
5:27
that I I didn't know that was a
5:30
possibility and
5:32
so I would encourage
5:34
you if you are one of those people right
5:36
now that are feeling pretty invisible
5:38
and you're feeling
5:40
Alone um to to not be afraid to share to
5:44
not be able to afraid to to reach out to
5:46
other people to see that video or that
5:51
real online or somebody's post that
5:53
inspires you and not to be afraid to
5:55
reach out you know I think that in your
5:59
boldness you'll find a lot of healing
6:01
taking bold steps to actively change
6:05
your intention away from being invisible
6:07
into feeling visible will open doors
6:10
that you think are closed but they're
6:13
actually open and it's really going to
6:15
come down to you being brave enough to
6:17
step into it we use hope a lot of times
6:20
on here and it's about being hyper aware
6:22
how am I thinking how am I feeling right
6:24
now in this moment am I living in a past
6:28
made up of past memories that I'm trying
6:30
to hang on to or trying to predict a
6:31
future that doesn't exist instead being
6:34
present in this moment being hyper aware
6:36
of how I'm feeling what am I thinking am
6:38
I living off of some sort of past
6:41
leftovers you're openhearted enough to
6:43
love yourself to do the hard stuff you
6:46
know breaking that pattern of
6:47
invisibility does require you to take
6:50
bold action on yourself you know whether
6:53
it's writing in a journal or talking to
6:55
somebody or whatever it is I don't know
6:57
what it is for you for me it's always
7:00
been making stuff creating something you
7:03
know making a world up and all those
7:05
things like that that makes me feel like
7:08
I'm seeing because what I'm actually
7:09
doing in that process is I'm taking out
7:11
of my head and putting in real life so I
7:13
can see the Monster isn't as big as I've
7:15
brought it up to be and then understand
7:18
through persistence that every day is a
7:20
reset I might have had a really crappy
7:22
day today but that doesn't mean that
7:24
tomorrow has to be crappy what I could
7:26
do is I I can reflect on what today was
7:28
like through my hyper and Su being open
7:30
hard enough I can understand that
7:32
tomorrow I get to redo what did I learn
7:34
today that I can bring into my next day
7:36
to reset this and start the new and
7:39
process each day and knowing that each
7:42
day it may not be easier tomorrow but I
7:44
am taking one step closer to it becoming
7:47
easier and the last is you're empowered
7:50
when all those things come together
7:51
you're going to feel pretty empowered
7:53
you're going to start to appreciate
7:54
yourself differently you're going to
7:56
start to understand your values your
7:58
morals your your what I'm willing to
8:00
accept for myself my authenticity all of
8:02
these things that you right now because
8:05
we're invisible feel is worthless you're
8:07
going to find you are worthy of all of
8:09
those things and that through that
8:12
process you're going to find that
8:14
there's lots of people out there that
8:16
are just like you and the crazy thing
8:18
will happen is once you start to do
8:20
these things is that the whole time you
8:22
thought you were invisible and you start
8:24
to share these things and you start to
8:26
embrace who you are and allow yourself
8:29
to
8:30
evolve that you weren't invisible at all
8:34
that people have been paying attention
8:35
and actually have been inspired by you
8:38
just by you simply being
8:40
you and that will blow your mind because
8:44
I know it did mine so guys as I wrap
8:46
this up I just want to uh just tell you
8:49
that how much I appreciate you showing
8:51
up today I appreciate you being in this
8:53
world with me I appreciate how much you
8:56
persist at showing up and being the best
9:00
you you can possibly be today not afraid
9:02
of being good in pursuit of being great
9:06
because a lot of times your good is
9:08
better than most people's whatever
9:10
definition of great is and this requires
9:13
you just to show up and I appreciate you
9:15
for doing that and if you do know
9:16
somebody that needs to hear this message
9:18
make sure you share it I'm looking for
9:20
two people that may know two people
9:22
that's all I'm asking and make sure you
9:24
go in there rate review put this on
9:26
repeat listen to it again go back and
9:30
any days that you're feeling
9:31
alone you know know that you're not
9:33
alone find me on social media if you
9:36
need somebody to reach out to reach out
9:37
to me um I'm happy to uh help point you
9:41
in that direction but guys uh thank you
9:44
for showing up today thank you for being
9:45
in this world with me being a human
9:47
isn't easy and you're doing a great job
9:49
just one little step at a time and you
9:51
are getting closer to finding yourself
9:53
than you
9:54
realize hope this helps power up
